Delivery and collection

  • Collection: free, by arrangement, on the farm in Wilderness.
  • Garden Route delivery: Wilderness, George, Sedgefield, Knysna and surrounding towns — quoted per trip, because it depends on the load.
  • Further afield: ask before you order. A live plant couriered badly arrives dead, so we would rather say no than send one.

Why spekboom from here

These are plants grown out in real Garden Route weather, not pushed in a greenhouse — so they are already used to our sun, our wind and our rain. Spekboom is a water-wise indigenous succulent: it grows in full sun or half shade, needs very little watering once established, and it makes a dense hedge or an unkillable pot plant.

Questions people ask before buying

  • How big is the plant I get? The potted spekboom is an established plant in a nursery bag, roughly knee height. If you need a specific size for a hedge, tell us the spacing you need and we’ll match it.
  • How many do I need for a hedge? Roughly 60–80 cm apart. See the hedge spacing guide.
  • Can I eat it? Yes — spekboom leaves are edible and mildly sour. What it tastes like and how much is safe.
  • Will it survive frost or drought? Spekboom handles both once established. How cold is too cold.
